Homework:
Homework should be a review of work that has been previously introduced at school. It is not meant to be busy work, but rather is meant to supplement classroom work.
Reading logs and spelling practice will be sent home on Fridays, Children should read a minimum of 80 minutes each week (including weekends), fill in their reading logs, and return them to school on Fridays. . Math homework will be sent home at the beginning of each unit. Students should do one sheet of math homework each night. There will also be additional online practice to support the concepts we are working on. It is important NOT to work ahead of the class. Otherwise, math homework is no longer a review as intended, but instead becomes new learning.
It is the responsibility of the student and the parent to make sure that all work is completed and turned in. We ask that parents please check over the work to be sure their children have completed the appropriate review and reading. Please sign the back of the cover page to indicate you have done this. Additionally, if you find that your student is struggling and does not appear to understand the homework, please let the teacher know.
